Pursuing a Medical or Master Esthetician Career in California

It takes a unique person to want to become a medical esthetician or master esthetician in Orange County, California. For starters, you may have a lot of questions before you begin your new career within skin care. For example, what differentiates a standard Esthetician from a medical esthetician and advanced esthetician in the state of California? You might also be wondering which career options are available to you.

Here at Colleen O’Hara’s Beauty Academy, we’ve witnessed amazing new improvements in not only skin care and esthetics over the last decade but also in the way that skin care, esthetics, and cosmetology are taught.

Master estheticians and medical estheticians are finding and earning substantially larger salaries and building their clientele in person as well as on social media and on the web. So Is It Really Necessary to Get Your License in Order to be a Master Esthetician in Orange County?

YES! In fact, it can be vital! There may be some folks out there that say certification isn’t necessary or that your state doesn’t require a license in order to work in the skin care industry independently and that you can fly under the radar as some sort of rogue skincare specialist. This is simply not true in regards to what many clients might expect, what employers require, and of course what can keep you working as a master esthetician or medical esthetician down the line for years to come.

At Colleen O’Hara’s Beauty Academy, we truly believe that if you’re considering a career as a master esthetician or medical esthetician in California, it’s absolutely necessary to go to school and get licensed!

If your state doesn’t require a license to become a master esthetician or medical esthetician (which is extremely rare to begin with), many skincare clinics, salons, spas, resorts, and key industry professionals such as photographers, designers, and film crew will often expect one before they hire you or give you your first shot at something they are going to put their brand or place their names upon; beyond legal requirements, obtaining a license helps to prove that you’ve obtained the fundamental knowledge and understanding of the industry you want to work in.
