Barber School & Career Prep

In less than a year and a half you could finish barber school. That’s right, the training program at Colleen O’Hara’s Beauty Academy (COBA) takes as little as 15 months to complete. The entire program requires 1500 hours of practical learning. Barbering classes combine classroom instruction with actual hands-on experiences in three areas.

To begin, you’ll learn about hair. Hair styling, cutting, permanents, straightening, bleaching, and coloring are all taught in theory, in the classroom. In barber school you also take shaving and health and safety classes.

Most of the study is actual practice on live models. This is where you’ll take what you learned in theory, in class and put it into practice!

You will be placed in real-life situations where you assess the best way to achieve the beauty goals of clients. This is where you will experience our student salon. Real guests will walk in or schedule an appointment and you can experience real life as a barber.

In The End

Graduates of barber school receive a diploma after completion of this comprehensive program. Then, they prepare to sit for the state exams. This is where the book and practical instruction from Colleen O’Hara’s Beauty Academy shines.

Once the exam has been passed, students can seek work as a barber using the skills they gained in the course. Becoming a barber is not just about the exam, however. It’s about learning together and establishing friendships and connections that will help you throughout a lifetime.
